In the last newsletter I made my EPK open for anyone to send to their favorite magazines, music blogs, radio stations and a lot of you responded by showing an unbelieveable support for Shaolin Temple of BooM.  For example here is Dan from the UK, and the STOBHEAD of the UK streetteams, who sent me this email.

It’s this type of support that is going help Shaolin Temple of BooM grow, so if you have a favorite magazine, music blog, radio station, DJ, WHATEVER….. that you want to introduce to SToB, the power is now in your hands! Spread the GOSPEL OF BOOM!

I will have new shirt designs by the end of this week, it will be a very big step up for SToB merch and different than typical merch as it will contain original artwork by me (Not vector images or pre-manufactured images)
But I just received this image from STOBHEAD Ginny from California, showing off her limited edition "Duel" shirt and CD

Here is a pic of me wearing a Duel shirt when the shipment first came in

That’s it for now….

Till the next time

FiXT News Exclusive Interview with Shaolin Temple of BooM
FiXT News recently caught up with David Alvarez from Shaolin Temple of BooM for a detailed look at his latest album Duel, his musical history, thoughts on music distribution and some of his plans for 2011 and beyond…(Interview Excerpt):FiXT News: What inspired the latest release Duel?David AlvarezSToB has been growing steadily for the last 3 years so when it came time for me to record this new album I saw an opportunity to take both “Into Nothing” and “Evil” out of their home demo state. I wanted to record them in a studio to get the production up to where I wanted and have these songs realize their full potential. Even though those songs have been played on KROQ and satellite radio as well as having been downloaded over 100 thousand times worldwide, they were still very much home demos. If you solo the tracks you can hear a ghetto bird (helicopter) flying overhead in a vocal track or a plane flying by. Not to mention on “Evil” you can hear my old desktop, which was on its last legs of existence, making a clicking sound while it was recording so you would hear it in the background whenever I used a mic to record vocals or acoustic guitar for example. I made a choice to upgrade those two songs into what I consider official versions, even though my budget was a fraction of what indie and major label budgets would be. I feel this album can compete with major and independent label bands in terms of production. In terms of licensing, what held those songs back in the past definitely was the home demo qualities of the recordings. These new versions of the songs are already set to be licensed and that is something I am very happy about since I’ve been wanting to license my music for quite some time, currently my whole catalog is under contract. In terms of the new songs, “Duel,” “Passenger” and “Transference,” I wanted to experiment with orchestral parts more and continue on in an electronic rock-infused sound.Read More at FiXT News

Interesting post on Mashable about digital music startups.

I thought this article was interesting, but what’s more interesting are the comments people made about the article. http://mashable.com/2010/10/17/imeem-music-startups/
