Review of Duel by Noizz Magazine

This is a literal translation of the review to preserve what the writer intended.

“With this curious name of SHAOLIN TEMPLE OF BOOM is presented this one-man-band behind which is the musician and artist David Alvarez, that his lastest work “Duel”. A project based in Los Angeles (California) in which he combines electronics, Rock, alternative metal and industrial styles… a mixture that is frankly well done, a fantastic sound, every work of the versatile, David Alvarez, the sole composer, performed and produced the six songs that are included in this brief but intense work. The physical format of the disk comes with a presentation in digipack simple but effective, in fact I believe that the image of the cover identifies very well the sound of “Duel”, and the fact is that it transmits a sensation of electronic sounds that corresponds very well with the music. I would say that the electronics or mechanical sounds of industrial influences are the base of SHAOLIN TEMPLE OF BOOM, all of it with a sophisticated and dark sound, that can turn out to be quite accessible to fans of different genres. Rock and Alternative Metal can be the other influences that mark the personality of this project. But outside of these definitions and labels, what truly is important of this disk is that in spite of being a work that is self-produced, it is at the highest level, in fact many bands of renown would want songs with so much energy and elegance as there is in “Duel”. A very attractive combination of lights and shadows, guitars united with electronics with passion and feeling. The fact is that of these six songs not one single work is useless, all are great compositions and they have a style of their own in spite of the fact that they combine several influences.”
